Home Aluminium Casting
Aluminium melts at 660C. This
temperature is easily achievable with a few simple ingredients
This
homemade furnace and crucible contains molten aluminium. We made it with two
clay flowerpots, a small air compressor, and a crucible made from a welding
torch gas bottle. The compressor provides oxygen in the form of air to the base
of the furnace, enabling a high rate of combustion.
.
This
image shows aluminium being poured from the crucible into the concave surface on
top of an ordinary house brick. We heated up the brick by resting it on the
furnace to prevent the aluminium cooling too quickly on contact.
